BGL and OnboardMe simplify AML/CTF compliance

By 11/08/2026BGL Update

BGL is proud to announce a new partnership with OnboardMe to simplify onboarding and AML/CTF compliance for accounting firms.

From 1 July 2026, the AML/CTF Act expanded to cover accounting firms and other professional services businesses for the first time in nearly two decades, bringing around 80,000 additional businesses under AUSTRAC oversight, roughly six times the number it currently regulates.

It is important that firms have the systems and processes in place to meet their new customer due diligence and identity verification requirements.

The planned integration will connect OnboardMe’s client onboarding workflow with BGL Firm Verify, BGL’s purpose-built AML/CTF compliance platform. This ensures firms can move from onboarding to compliance without re-entering information or switching between disconnected systems.

Onboarding and compliance, working as one

The integration supports key Tranche 2 compliance workflows, including:

  • Identity verification of individuals and businesses (KYC and KYB)
  • Beneficial ownership (UBO) identification
  • Politically exposed person (PEP), sanctions and adverse media screening
  • Customer due diligence for designated services
  • Ongoing monitoring and alerts
  • AML/CTF program, firm risk assessment and AUSTRAC reporting support

“Accounting firms shouldn’t have to bolt compliance onto the end of their onboarding process” said Jeevan Tokhi, Chief Product Officer at BGL. “By connecting OnboardMe with BGL Firm Verify, a firm can take a new client from engagement and onboarding straight through to AML/CTF compliance, customer due diligence and identity verification, all without re-keying data or jumping between systems. It’s onboarding and compliance working as one.”

“Our mission has always been to remove the friction from onboarding and client engagement” added Lee Williams, Co-Founder of OnboardMe. “This partnership with BGL means our clients will be able to meet their Tranche 2 obligations inside the same workflow they already use to bring clients on. For accounting firms, that’s one less disconnected system to manage.”

The OnboardMe integration is part of a wider set of BGL Firm Verify integrations planned throughout 2026, including a two-way sync across the BGL Suite (BGL CAS 360, BGL Simple Fund 360 and BGL Simple Invest 360) and connections to Xero Practice Manager, MYOB practice Management, Karbon and APS Contacts+.
