At BGL, we genuinely believe that without the right people – we wouldn’t be where we are today. So, we thought it was time to introduce you-all to the BGL Team! First up – meet BGL superstar and CAS 360 Business Analyst, Jeremy Hofsteede!

Jeremy has been a BGLer for an incredible 8 years 👏🤩 and is an essential part of the CAS 360 team!

What was your first job at BGL?

I was one of the many BGLers that started off in the support team – and there are a lot of us! From there I moved into the CAS Desktop team as a tester, then to the CAS 360 team as a tester. A little over a year ago, I became the CAS 360 Business Analyst.

My day is all-around looking at feedback and issues that come through various avenues to the CAS 360 team including feedback directly from users of CAS 360, support calls and even just the experiences of fellow BGL team members to help improve the CAS 360 software. I also help a lot with the testing of CAS 360 and have a big role in the migration of data from the desktop products to the cloud.

What three words would you use to describe BGL’s culture?

Fun, diverse and inclusive.

Which BGL clubs are you a member of?

All of them! Apart from Fantasy Football, because I was banned after I won the soccer world cup tipping – literally not even knowing who was playing 🤷‍♂️

What’s one thing that surprised you about working at BGL?

It is really the opportunities that BGL gives you. As a company it asks a lot of you, but when you show hard work, you get given opportunities to expand your role within the company. The team is really young but accomplished when you consider so many have come up through the company.

What’s one of your favourite BGL memories from the past year?

For me, getting to go to New Zealand to help make connections while we were about to release CAS 360 to Beta. It was such an amazing experience to meet clients in another country face-to-face and really get to understand what was important to them.

Who at BGL would you most like to swap places with for a day?

This one I would be for more of a fun perspective – Adriana Cavallo (Head of Partnerships).
Only because I would like her to be stuck at a desk while Warren Renden (Head of CAS 360) got to make fun of her all day and boss her around!

Do you have a favourite charity you wish more people knew about?

For me it’s the Stroke Foundation. One of the great things BGL has done in recent times, from my perspective, is its support of the Stroke Foundation through Run Melbourne. Strokes have had a substantial impact on my father’s side of the family over the years and to see the help that is given by the awareness and fundraising it does is something that really matters to me ❤️

How do you prefer to start your day?

With a cup of tea. It gives me a really good start to the day, especially with colder weather coming, it warms me up and gives me a bit of caffeine.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

I am definitely not an early bird anymore, too many years getting up at 5am to go rowing before work has taken its toll. I very much enjoy my sleep-ins now.

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?

So, this is one that has started since just before the isolation for me – but continuing to do a physical activity every day. Even if that is just push-ups via a Zoom with the BGL #pushupclub every day at 3pm đź’Şđź’Ş

How do you feel about putting pineapple on pizza?

It’s a crime that the Victorian Government really needs to stamp out. Pineapples should only be allowed in cocktails.
