BGL helps firms prepare for regulatory change with BGL Education Month

BGL is helping accounting and SMSF firms prepare for sweeping regulatory changes with the announcement of BGL Education Month, a free four-week series of live webinars.

Running from 5 – 30 October 2026, the sessions will provide help for a number of important compliance changes, including the Payday Super, Division 296 and AUSTRAC AML/CTF obligations. Each week is built around a different BGL product and a set of challenges, offering firms practical, session-by-session guidance rather than a generic overview.

The four weekly sessions are:

  • Week 1 (5 – 10 Oct): BGL Firm Verify and CAS 360 (International)
  • Week 2 (12 – 16 Oct): Simple Fund 360
  • Week 3 (19 – 23 Oct): Simple Invest 360
  • Week 4 (26 – 30 Oct): CAS 360

“With so many regulatory changes at one time, we wanted to give the industry something practical rather than just regular webinars” said Norman Michael, Product Education Manager at BGL. “Education Month is about helping firms walk away from each session with something they can immediately apply in their business.”

Jeevan Tokhi, Chief Product Officer at BGL said “The BGL Suite represents years of work from our team and Education Month is the perfect opportunity to show firms how much time our products can give back to them. Every feature we cover in these sessions only exists because clients have told us their manual process was costing hours they didn’t have.”

All sessions are free, delivered live online and run for 30-minutes. Firms unable to attend live can register to receive access to all recordings.

BGL REGTECH 2026 concludes with record attendees

By BGL UpdateNo Comments

BGL celebrated the close of BGL REGTECH 2026 last week, its premier annual accounting and technology roadshow that brings together accountants and advisers across Australia.

BGL REGTECH brought together 2,000+ professionals in six Australian cities through August 2026 for a half-day experience packed with product announcements, industry insight and genuine connection. From Perth to Brisbane to Melbourne, the roadshow united the accounting, advisory and the SMSF community at a time of significant regulatory and technological change.

This year’s event, rated 4.54/5 stars by attendees, featured sessions from BGL’s leadership team, including Founder Ron Lesh, Chief Executive Officer Daniel Tramontana and Chief Product Officer Jeevan Tokhi, alongside industry experts Peter Moore, Head of Advisory and M&A at Ashfords and Lielette Calleja, Director at businessDEPOT. Together, they tackled the future of advisory, the role of AI in the accounting profession and the evolving regulatory landscape shaping practices across Australia.

“BGL REGTECH 2026 was everything we hoped it would be and more” said Daniel Tramontana, Chief Executive Officer at BGL. “To everyone who attended, thank you for showing up and being part of the conversations that matter. To our speakers, thank you for bringing your expertise and generosity to every room. To our sponsors and partners, your continued support is what makes this event possible year after year.”

BGL REGTECH 2026 welcomed an outstanding lineup of 30 sponsors and partners, including Diamond Sponsor Xero, Platinum Sponsors The Access Group and Macquarie, as well as Gold, Silver, Bronze, Coffee and Media sponsors from across our ecosystem. Their presence on the expo floor gave attendees direct access to the tools and teams shaping the future of accounting technology in Australia.

This year also marked the return of the BGL Online Summit, a free series of exclusive webinars hosted in partnership with XU Magazine and leading ecosystem partners, including Xero, Act2, FuseSign, ASF Audits, The Gap, Bell Financial, Karbon and Registry Direct. Running for two weeks in July and August, the BGL Online Summit extended the conversation beyond the roadshow, giving professionals across Australia the flexibility to engage with the industry from wherever they are.

“This time of year is always a highlight for our team” said Jeevan Tokhi, Chief Product Officer at BGL. “Seeing the energy in the room when we share what we have been building and what is coming next is incredibly motivating. The curiosity and enthusiasm from attendees this year pushed us to keep raising the bar and we are already excited about what we are working on.”

BGL thanks our clients, partners, speakers and attendees who made BGL REGTECH 2026 a sensational event for the community. We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2027.

BGL receives 23rd Australian Achiever Award for customer service

By BGL Update, CultureNo Comments

BGL is proud to announce it has again been recognised by the Australian Achiever Awards with a Highly Recommended customer service rating.

Judging for the Australian Achiever Awards Information and Communications Technology Services category was completed on 18 May 2026. The results are based entirely on customer feedback and evaluated across eight key criteria: time efficiency, addressing client needs, care, value, attitude, communication, overall perception and likelihood of referral.

BGL achieved an impressive customer satisfaction rating of over 90%, clearly reflecting the strength of its client relationships and unwavering commitment to service excellence.

“We’re proud to receive our 23rd Australian Achiever Award”, said Daniel Tramontana, Chief Executive Officer at BGL “This is an incredible achievement and one we don’t take for granted, as our clients are at the heart of everything we do. This recognition is a testament to the passion and dedication of every person at BGL”.

BGL automates SMSF share registry data through integration with Automic Group

By BGL UpdateNo Comments

BGL is proud to announce its integration with Automic Group, eliminating manual input of share registry data for SMSF administrators and accountants.

The integration with Simple Fund 360 and Simple Invest 360 enables quarterly holding balances and dividend/distribution statements for ASX-listed securities to flow directly into Simple Fund 360 and Simple Invest 360, removing the need for registry logins and manual downloads.

With the addition of Automic Group, BGL clients have access to ownership and holding data for more than 2,280 ASX-listed companies and trusts, extending registry coverage for approximately 97% of the ASX.

“More than half of all SMSFs in Australia are administered using Simple Fund 360, so the scale of this truly matters” said BGL’s Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Tramontana. “We now have 97%+ registry coverage with data delivered automatically to our clients. This means less manual work, fewer errors and more time back for every accounting firm using our platform.”

“This integration addresses one of the most time-consuming tasks in SMSF administration” said BGL’s Chief Product Officer, Jeevan Tokhi. “For firms managing direct equities, collecting accurate holding data has traditionally required logging in to each share registry, downloading individual statements and manually reconciling balances each quarter. BGL clients no longer need to do this tedious task.”

“BGL serves over 50% of the businesses that administer SMSFs, so connecting with BGL made a lot of sense for us” said Automic Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, Richard Thomas. “Our proprietary, API-native platform enables seamless data flow without manual intervention, reducing errors and ultimately delivering a better experience for the end client.”

For BGL users, this integration provides:

  • Automatic retrieval of quarterly holding balances for ASX securities
  • Automatic delivery of dividend, distribution and AMMA statements into the Document and Workpapers screens
  • Visibility of registry data alongside ledger balances in the Balance Review screen
  • Support for unlimited HINs and SRNs per entity
  • No disruption to existing workflows

Once connected using an entity’s HIN or SRN, BGL automatically retrieves holding data each quarter. For Registry Data subscribers, all available balances and statements for the 2026 financial year (July 2025 to June 2026) will be populated during April 2026.
